Robert Sprague '70 coached Monmouth College Baseball for 12 years and initiated fall baseball to the program. Coach Sprague led the Blue and White to eight District 31 Championships during his tenure in West Long Branch, and was named the District 31 Coach of the Year seven times. Sprague, who guided the Hawks to the 1977 NAIA College World Series, coached 17 players who were drafted into the major leagues. A 1970 graduate of Monmouth, Sprague also managed the “first ever” New York/New Jersey All-Star Game at Yankee Stadium. Adding to his accolades as a coach, Sprague was tabbed the New Jersey Sportswriters "Coach of the Year" three times.
