August Zilincar III '69 was the NAIA hammer throw champion in 1968, while also capturing the NCAA College Division hammer throw title and record mark that same year. Zilincar, who won the 1968 Penn Relays hammer throw championship, held the Monmouth College records in the hammer throw, shot put and 35-pound weight throw.

Zilincar was inducted into the Monmouth College Athletic Hall of Fame in May 1981, as part of the first-ever class.
