Lacy Johnson '01, a nine-time Northeast Conference Champion in both women's indoor and outdoor track and field at Monmouth, earned Most Valuable Performer status for the Hawks on seven different occasions throughout her career. As an indoor competitor, Johnson was All-East three times, as well as the team MVP all four seasons, while winning league titles in the weight throw in 1997, 1998 and 2011, and was the Hawks' first female national NCAA provisional qualifier. Johnson was a three-time MVP of the outdoor track and field team and was a six-time NEC Champion, while earning All-East recognition once again. Johnson, who holds a total of five Monmouth records in the shot put, weight throw, discus and hammer throw, was named the Northeast Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2001.
