BETHLEHEM, PA – The Monmouth men's and women's cross country teams competed in the NCAA Division I Mid-Atlantic Regional, hosted by Lehigh University, with the men finishing 18
th overall while the women came in 20
th.
 
For the first time this season, 
Carrington Retzios (Budd Lake, NJ / Mount Olive) led the Hawks individually, finishing 88
th overall with a time of 32:24.9 in the 10K. Following Retzios were sophomores 
Louis DiLaurenzio (32:26.5), 
John Spinelli (32:31.9), 
James Hoffman (32:41.0), and 
Matt Bodon (33:11.3) who rounded out the top five for the men.
 
On the women's side, 
Sammi Ragenklint (Tinton Falls, NJ / Monmouth Regional) led the Hawks individually for the fifth consecutive meet, finishing 51
st with a time of 21:20.5 in the 6K. Fellow freshman 
Jenny Tavares followed Ragenklint, finishing with a time of 22:27.0. 
Alyssa Repsher (22:28.3), 
Natalie Tavares (22:53.7), and 
Melanie Pfennig ended in the top five for the Blue & White.
 
NOTES AND QUOTES
"Overall, I thought the women had a solid day. They continued their consistent season today with their performance. We made a lot of progress from last year. Sammi had an amazing day for us. I am really proud of the progress they have made."
 
"It was just not quite our day on the men's side. We had some guys that performed well while others did not have it all today. I think they will bounce back next week. We had several athletes have good days, including Carrington and Spinelli. Overall, it was an off day but we will bounce back."

-The women improved seven spots from last year, moving up from 27
th in 2018.
-Monmouth finished ahead of Rider in both the men's and women's side, with the women getting 585 vs. 588 while the men tied Rider with 490 but beat them after tie breakers (4-1).
-Villanova won on the men's side with a score of 37 points and Penn State won for the women, finishing with a score of 73.
-For the second straight meet, Ragenklint and 
Jenny Tavares finished one-two for the women.

-The Hawks return to action on November 23 as they will compete in the ECAC/IC4A Division I Championship at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, NY.
