BETHLEHEM, Pa.- Between the men's and women's field team, Monmouth has seven total athletes place in the hammer throw in the first day of the Greyhound Invitational held on the campus of Moravian College.
Senior Tiffany Stevens (Bloomsbury, N.J.) placed second with a throw of 144'9”, while sophomore Emily Rothenberger (Lititz, Pa.) finished in fourth with her toss of 130'6”.
Like they have all season, the men's throwing squad had another impressive outing, placing five hammer competitors in the top eight. Junior Ed Skowronski (Hazlet, N.J.) won the event with his heave of 192'11”, while senior Ryan Connell's (Nutley, N.J.) toss of 186'4” was good enough for second. Christian Keller (Matawan, N.J.) qualified for IC4A's with a throw of 177'7”, which was third at Moravian. The junior becomes the fourth MU athlete to qualify for IC4A's in the hammer, which sets a school record for Hawks in a single event at the post-season meet. Freshman Shawn Sabo (Oakland, N.J.) was sixth with a throw of 146'3” and Kyle Hirschklau (Morristown, N.J.) finished in eighth with a toss of 140'7”.
