Monmouth Women Post Highest CAA Championship Point Total in Program History

May 15, 2025

Greensboro, NC - Monmouth climbed into the top half of the Coastal Athletic Association Outdoor Women's Track & Field Championships team standings this week in Greensboro.

Led by event champions Yasmeen Tinsley and Rett Schnoor, the Hawks totaled 81.5 points to finish sixth out of 13 teams. It was Monmouth's best overall showing at the annual championship meet. Schnoor, from nearby Atlantic Highlands, broke through by winning the CAA long jump title.

"Our women's team had its highest finish in the CAA. We're climbing to the top of the conference and it's very exciting. Having Yasmeen and Rett both win individual titles inspired the rest of our team," said acting head coach Jordan Torney.

Tinsley, the most-decorated woman in Monmouth's program history, was remarkable once again in her final conference meet. She scored 22 points and set two school records.

After taking runner-up status in the 100m hurdles final, Tinsley cruised to victory in the 400m hurdles on Thursday. Her 100m hurdles preliminary time (13.28), which was registered in rainy conditions on Wednesday, broke her own program record. She also improved her Monmouth record in the 100m dash, running 11.65 to take fourth place in Thursday's final.

The Hawks' team result was powered by multiple senior athletes, including thrower Vanessa Wood and high jumper Veronica Chainov.

Wood took second place in the hammer throw on Wednesday and added fifth-place points in the shot put on Thursday. Sophomore teammate Julie Thomas put the shot a personal-best 15.07m to earn bronze.

Chainov cleared 1.82m to finish second in the high jump. The mark places the senior into the NCAA East Region Top 10.

"It's great to have our senior athletes set the tone for the rest of the group and we carried that momentum through the duration of the meet," said Torney.

Freshman Krissy Sarnicola earned a bronze medal in the steeple chase. Fellow rookie Naomee Adisa scored in the pole vault and triple jump.
