RICHMOND, Va. – After hitting a blistering .714 last week, Monmouth University baseball senior outfielder
Nick Lovarco was named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Player of the Week by league officials.

Lovarco was honored for the first time in his Monmouth career. He is the third Hawk to be honored by the league this year (
Chris Walsh-Mar. 9,
Sam Saucke–Feb. 16).

Lovarco was particularly effective at the plate to lead the Hawks to the series win over Stony Brook. He hit .818 (9-for-11) in the three games against the Seawolves with eight RBIs, five runs scored and three home runs. Lovarco also reached base on two walks and a hit by a pitch and finished the weekend with an .857 on base percentage and a 1.636 slugging percentage against the Seawolves.

In Friday's opener against Stony Brook, Lovarco went 3-for-4 with two RBIs, two runs scored and his first two home runs of the year. Lovarco homered in back-to-back plate appearances for his first multi-home run game as a Hawk.Â

In Saturday's comeback win over Stony Brook, Lovarco went 4-for-4 with a walk, two RBIs and two runs scored. Lovarco scored twice and drove in two in a crucial sixth inning as the Hawks scored eight runs to secure the win.

Sunday in the series finale, Lovarco was 2-for-3 with 4 RBIs and a run scored. He also reached base after walking and being hit by a pitch. Lovarco launched his third home run of the weekend, a grand slam that brought the Hawks back from a 5-1 deficit and tied the game.

Lovarco also had a double in the road contest at Rutgers.

On the season, Lovarco is batting a team-best .388 with 15 RBIs and 13 runs scored.

Lovarco and the Hawks return to action on Tuesday, Mar. 24 at 3 p.m. to host Lafayette.
