ELON, N.C. – The Monmouth University baseball team scored the first four runs of the game and claimed an 8-2 victory at Elon University in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play.Â

The Hawks completed their second CAA series sweep and improved to 6-0 on the road in conference play this season. Monmouth has won four straight games.

Back-to-back doubles from
Simmi Whitehill and
Nick Lovarco to start the second inning got the Hawks on the scoreboard first.

The Hawks added to their lead in the third as
Chris Walsh' single scored two and the visitors led 3-0.

The double play ball helped Monmouth starter
Brendan Kenneally limit the Elon opportunities early. The Hawks turned a double play in each of the first three innings.

Monmouth pushed its lead to 4-0 in the fifth as Walsh's double scored
Sam Saucke.

Elon cut the Monmouth lead in half with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fifth.

The Hawks responded in the sixth as
Colin Richter's two-out triple scored
Will Fahey.

Monmouth once again scored late runs, with two in the eighth and one in the ninth. Saucke,
Wyatt Hunt and RJ Mustarto picked up RBIs that made it an 8-2 game.

Cory Pascarella worked around a couple of baserunners in the bottom of the ninth to secure the victory.

- The Hawks moved to 6-0 on the year in CAA road games.
- Monmouth picked up its second CAA series sweep of the year. It's the first time the Hawks have swept two conference series in the same season since 2022.
- The win gave the Hawks 10 CAA victories with 18 conference games to go. The 10 conference wins matches last year's total for conference wins.
- Simmi Whitehill extended his reached base safely streak to 24 games with his double in the second inning.
- Wyatt Hunt pushed his hit streak to 10 games and his reached base safely streak to 19 games with his single in the eighth.
- The Hawks moved to 9-3 on the year when they score eight or more runs in a game.
- Will Fahey and Colin Richter combined to go 4-for-8 with four runs scored out of the eight and nine spots in the lineup.
- Brendan Kenneally picked up his second win of the year while going a season-best 5.2 innings and allowing just two runs.
- Cory Pascarella picked up his first career save as he went the final 3.1 and allowed just one hit while striking out four.
