WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth Baseball left-handed pitcher
Trey Dombroski was named a Third Team All-American by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA), the organization announced Friday. Dombroski is the sixth Hawk in program history to earn ABCA All-America accolades.
Â
Dombroski notched one of the best seasons for a Monmouth pitcher in the history of the program. He topped former first-round draft pick Pat Light's single-season strikeout record with 120 K's, and posted a 3.13 ERA to go alongside a 6-2 record. Dombroski allowed just 14 walks in 95 innings and opponents hit just .224 against him. He opened the season with six no-hit innings in a win over Big 10 member Penn State, and posted six games with double-digit strikeouts including a career-best 13 at Quinnipiac across eight innings.
Â
The left-handed pitcher picked up several accolades on the year, including being the unanimous choice for MAAC Pitcher of the Year along with picking up All-MAAC First Team honors. He was named a Second-Team All-American by Collegiate Baseball, and picked up First Team All-East Region by the ABCA. He was the MAAC Pitcher of the Week five times and earned MAAC All-Academic honors. Yesterday, he was named the Paul G. Gaffney II Monmouth Male Athlete of the Year.
Â
Dombroski joins Jay Law (2001), Joe McCullough (1998), Brian Gismonde (1999), Ryan Terry (2011) and Pat Light (2012) in earning ABCA/Rawlings All-America honors at Monmouth.
