WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ -Â The Monmouth University Athletics Department recognized the achievements of its student-athletes with its annual Student-Athlete Awards, which were announced Tuesday at Pollak Theatre.

Among the prominent awards given were the Joan Martin Award, Bill Boylan Award, Parker Award and the Kelsey Award. In addition, Most Valuable Player Awards and Coaches Award winners were named for each team, as well as the Team Physicians' and Sports Medicine Award and Strength and Conditioning awards.

The Joan Martin Award, presented annually to the senior student-athletes who have shown dedication to their team while staying the course through adversity, was given toÂ
Austin Klapman (Men's Tennis) andÂ
Lauren Feaster (Women's Soccer).
Â
Klapman is completing his career during the most successful run of championships in Monmouth men's tennis program history. The senior has been part of three consecutive MAAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships during which the program has not lost a match to a conference opponent. During Klapman's career, the Hawks own an overall record of 56-14, including a 17-0 league record, highlighted by a program-record 20-win season this year. Klapman went 5-3 in singles play this year and combined for a 5-3 mark in doubles competition.

Feaster was part of three MAAC Regular Season and Tournament Championships during her time in West Long Branch. Since her arrival on campus, the women's soccer program owns an overall record of 50-12-8, including 30-3-3 in conference play. She was a team captain as a senior this past fall and was a three-time MAAC All-Academic Team selection. Off the field, Feaster has contributed to Monmouth's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee as the Director of Off Campus Activities for each of the past two years.

The Bill Boylan Award, presented annually to the senior student-athletes who demonstrate the traits of leadership, sportsmanship, scholarship and athletic ability that were so constant in the career of Bill Boylan, was awarded to
Mahmoud Shabana (Football) andÂ
Sarina Jones (Women's Soccer).
Â
Shabana was a constant on the offensive line for Monmouth during its most successful stretch of football in program history. Over Shabana's five seasons, Shabana played in 47 games, including 36 starting assignments at his tackle position. He blocked for a number of league leading rushers and passers, most recently
Tony Muskett in 2021 and has been part of all three FCS Playoff appearances. Shabana earned All-Big South honors in each of his last three seasons, including two First Team selections in the Spring and Fall of 2021.
Academically, Shabana was named to the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society two times and graduated with an undergraduate and graduate degrees in software engineering..

Jones garnered a number of accolades during her five-year career with the Monmouth women's soccer program. A four-time MAAC Regular Season and Tournament Champion, Jones helped Monmouth secure a 65-16-10 overall record, including a 39-4-3 mark in conference play. She earned All-MAAC honors five times, including two Defensive Player of the Year awards and 2019 MAAC Tournament MVP honors. Jones was voted to the All-Atlantic Region Second Team twice in her career.
Off the pitch, Jones was equally as impressive. As a chemistry major, Jones was a four-time MAAC All-Academic Team selection and part of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society twice. She was a two-time Scholar All-East Region selection and a Scholar All-American in 2020.
