WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – The Monmouth University track and field teams closed out their regular season slate over the weekend, hosting the Monmouth Winter Collegiate Invitational at the OceanFirst Bank Center. Over the course of the two-day event, the Hawks were able to post 12 event wins and seven all-time top-tens as they now set their sights on the MAAC Indoor Championships next weekend.

The men's team came away with four wins and one top-ten while the women earned eight wins and six top-tens. Among the top performances over the weekend,
Gretel Jelmert set new freshman and facility records with her winning performance in the women's pole vault competition, posting a mark of 3.65m which is tied for the best mark among all MAAC competitors this season. Meanwhile, Mujeeb Ali set a new personal best in the men's shot put with a mark of 17.03m which is tops on the MAAC leaderboards this season.

The Hawks have completed the regular season portion of their schedule and will travel to The Armory in New York next weekend for the MAAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. The MAAC Championships start on Saturday, February 19 and conclude on Sunday, February 20.
