WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth Men's Soccer senior goalkeeper
Sean Murray has been named to the 2021 Senior CLASS Award Candidate List, the organization announced Thursday. Murray is one of 30 men's players nationally to be named to the list.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior or graduate-student and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character, and competition. CLASS is an acronym standing for
Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School. The Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.
Murray is a four-year contributor in goal for the Hawks, playing in 52 career games with 11 shutouts. This season, he has played every minute in goal for the Blue and White, making 30 saves and picking up three wins and four shutouts. He was the MAAC Co-Goalkeeper of the Year in the spring season, and is a multiple time selection to the MAAC All-Academic Team.
The candidates list will be narrowed to 10 finalists later this season, and those 10 will be placed on an official ballot distributed to the media, coaches and fans for voting. Winners will be announced during the 2021 College Cup in December.
Murray and the Hawks are back in action this Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at Saint Peter's.
