Jakob Friedman's goal with 21 seconds to play helped the Monmouth University men's soccer team secure a 1-1 tie at Northeastern University in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) play on Saturday.

The beginning of the match was a back-and-forth battle between the Hawks and Huskies.
Herman Johnsen made a key stop for the Hawks in the seventh minute. Friedman fired off a pair of shots in the 17th and 18th minutes that the Northeastern keeper got a hand on.

The two teams continued to battle as Northeastern broke through with a goal from Asiah Carroll with 32 seconds to go in the half.Â

Johnsen started the second half with a pair of big saves for the Hawks.Â

The Hawks continued to apply the pressure and fired off four shots on goal in a four-minute span but were unable to connect.Â

Three saves from Johnsen in the 78th minute kept the Monmouth deficit at 1-0.Â

The Hawks drew even with 21 seconds to play as Friedman carried the ball across the box. He ripped a shot into the high left corner of the net that pulled the Hawks even at 1-1.

Both teams claimed a point as the match ended in a 1-1 tie.
