Osiecki Scores as Hawks Fall to Hofstra

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Patrick Osiecki scored as the Monmouth University men's soccer team fell to Hofstra University, 4-1 in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) action on Saturday night. 
 
The first half was a back-and-forth battle between the two sides. Monmouth took four shots in the period but was unable to connect.
 
The two teams went into the half tied at 0-0.
 
Herman Johnsen had a save just about 10 minutes into the second half which kept the game deadlocked. 
 
Hofstra broke through with a goal at 59:19 from Gabriel Pacheco. The Pride tacked on two more goals and extended its lead to 3-0 with a little more than 15 minutes to play.
 
Osiecki's goal cut the Monmouth deficit to two, at 75:48.
 
Hofstra added one more goal in the final 10 minutes and claimed the 4-1 victory. 

NOTES
- It was the 10th meeting in the all-time series between the Hawks and Pride. Hofstra leads the match-up by a 7-2-1 mark. 
- Prior to the start of the match, the Hawks honored seniors/grad students – Ian Brunet, Jakob Friedman, Patrick Osiecki, Sean Cadigan, Matthew Fuentes, Cam Lawrence and Danny Bensch
- Kevin DeCapua earned his first career start in the contest.
- Patrick Osiecki's goal was his second the season. He is now tied for second on the team with seven points.

NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Hofstra outshot the Hawks 21-7 in the match. The Pride put six shots on goal while Monmouth had one. 
- Hofstra had 10 of the contest's 14 corner kicks. 
- Herman Johnsen made two saves for the Hawks in goal. 
- Gino Cervoni did not make a save for the Pride in goal.

-Monmouth has wrapped up its regular season. The Hawks await next weekend's CAA results to see if they qualify for the CAA Tournament.
