WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University Baseball had a pair of players earn MAAC weekly honors, the league announced on Monday. Outfielder Jalen Jenkins (Waxhaw, NC/Cuthbertson/Brunswick CC) was named the Player of the Week, while infielder Dixon Black (Archbald, PA/Valley View) earned Rookie of the Week accolades for the second time this season.
 
Jenkins had a monster weekend at the plate, hitting .714 behind a 10-for-14 effort, driving in nine runs in three games at Saint Peter's. He scored five times and had an extra base hit in every game, including a double, triple and a home run. Jenkins stole a base and played a perfect outfield in the three contests, slugging at a 1.143 clip. Jenkins is the second Hawk to be named Player of the Week this year, after teammate Alex Barker (Newark, DE/Caravel Academy) earned the honor on April 5.
 
Black hit .389 in the series win at Saint Peter's, going 7-for-18 with three doubles. He drove in four and scored five times, including his second career home run on Sunday. Black stole a base and played a flawless infield on the weekend en route to earning the league's weekly award for the top freshman for a second time this year.
 
The Hawks are back in action this Saturday with a doubleheader against Canisius beginning at noon in West Long Branch.
