BOWLING FACES TOP COMPETITION AT DEZY STRONG CLASSIC

CORAM, NY – The Monmouth University bowling team continued its season at the Dezy Strong Classic hosted by Adelphi over the weekend in Coram, NY.
 
The Hawks went 6-7 over three days as they battled some of the top bowling programs in the nation. The team fell to #7 Youngstown State, #10 Stephen F. Austin, and #16 Tulane in Baker matches on Friday, and were bested by #4 Vanderbilt and #22 Prairie View A&M in traditional play on Saturday. Monmouth did pick up a victory over #25 Adelphi for the second consecutive weekend, winning 936-923 in a traditional match.

Saige Yamada and Jenna Lehrer finished among the top-20 individual competitors during the second day of the event, placing 16th and 17th, respectively. Over five games, Yamada posted an average score of 195.2, bowling two 200+ games. Lehrer achieved a total pinfall of 973 over her five games, rolling three 200+ games including a high game of 224.

- Monmouth's two wins in Baker matches came against Molloy and Felician
- In addition to their victory over #25 Adelphi, the Hawks also bested UAB and Saint Francis (PA) in traditional play
- Monmouth's two losses in the championship round were to #22 Prairie View A&M and #25 Adelphi. They picked up another win over UAB during the round

- Skylar Smith had an average score of 184 over five games including a high game of 226, the best game of the weekend among Monmouth bowlers
- Jamie Phelan knocked down 865 pins over her five games
- Dani Seaman played four games, rolling her first 200+ game of the season while finishing with an average score of 179.75
- Siyah Sweeny played one game, downing 141 pins
