FAIRFIELD, CT – The Monmouth University bowling team opened its season at the Bowl for the Cure Invitational hosted by Sacred Heart on Saturday and Sunday in Fairfield, CT.

The Hawks went 8-2 over the two-day event, highlighted by five Baker match victories on Sunday over #25 Adelphi, Wagner, Molloy, and Caldwell. Monmouth was third in the field in total pinfall on both days, finishing with an average team score of 177.1 on Saturday and 180.8 on Sunday.
Jamie Phelan paced the Hawks on Saturday, earning a fifth place finish out of 64 bowlers. Over five games, Phelan put up an average score of 195, including two 200+ efforts and a high game of 242.
Saige Yamada joined Phelan in the top-ten, finishing ninth overall. Yamada posted a 186.2 average across five individual games.
