NORFOLK, VAÂ - The Monmouth University bowling team was picked to finish fourth in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Preseason Poll, while junior
Saige Yamada was named to the Preseason All-MEAC Team, the league announced Thursday.  Â
"We are excited for the season to get underway and look forward to any and all opportunities we have to compete," Director of Bowling
Karen Grygiel said. "We have made some great additions to our roster for this season and look forward to competing for a MEAC title."Â Â
Yamada, a Second Team All-MEAC selection last season, earned her first preseason All-MEAC recognition. Yamada rolled 17 games above 200 in 2019-20, including a high game of 267 at the Northeast Roundup, and earned three top-10 finishes on the year. In two MEAC competitions, Yamada placed fifth and 11th, respectively. Yamada also averaged a team-high 197.78 pins per game last year.
Defending MEAC Champion Maryland Eastern Shore was picked to finish first, ahead of North Carolina A&T State and Delaware State. The Hawks earned 174 total points in the poll, including one first-place vote.  Â
