GILBERT, AZ – For the third time in program history and the first time since 2017, the Monmouth University field hockey team is ranked in the Penn Monto/National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I National Coaches Poll, the organization announced on Tuesday.
The Hawks stand at 5-3 overall through four weeks of the season. The Blue and White is paced offensively by freshman Yasmin Pratt (Wicklow, Ireland / Kilkenny College HS) who has 17 points on the strength of seven goals, two of which are game-winners, and three assist through the first eight games. Sophomore Annick van Lange (Sint-Job, Belgium / Annuntia Institute) has six goals and a helper good for 13 points, while rookie Aylin Aufenacker (Hamburg, Germany / Gymnasium Eppendorf) has totaled 11 points on four goals and three assists. Sophomore goalkeeper Kate O'Hogan (Dublin, Ireland / Mount Anville Secondary) has backstopped the Hawks' defense, posting a 1.80 goals against average and .588 save percentage in over 466 minutes of play.
Monmouth ranks in the top-15 nationally in five statistically categories, including scoring average (8th; 3.36), goals per game (9th; 3.38), points per game (10th; 9.13), scoring margin (11th; 1.62), and assists per game (14th; 2.38). Pratt's 0.88 goals per game and 2.13 points per game has her ranking 13th and 15th, respectively.
Monmouth hits the road on Sunday, September 29th for a 2 p.m. tilt in Easton, PA against Lafayette in its final test before opening up America East play next week.
