Allie Wilson qualified for her second straight NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 800 meters. She won the first heat of the event by crossing the finish line in 2:03.86. Senior
Brianna Stratz narrowly missed out on joining Wilson in the 800 meter semifinals by just over one second. Seniors Mark Orlando and Peter Flacco also competed in the javelin for the Hawks here at the NCAA Preliminary Round.

-       "Allie and Brianna both had excellent races today, and with Coach Tarello's guidance have elevated our middle distance crew to new levels. Allie was able to make a move and take control of her heat late in the race. Bri wasn't able to hold off a few folks in the stretch, but executed perfectly and was on the shoulder of the NCAA Champion with 200 meters to go," said head coach
Joe Compagni. "Mark and Pete did not have a great day in the javelin, but both have had excellent seasons and had to put together some big-time throws to get here."
-       Wilson, a two-time All-American, qualified for her third overall NCAA Championships in the 800 meters, including a 4
th place finish and First Team All-America honors at this year's NCAA Indoor Championships.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â This was Wilson's second fastest time of the 2019 outdoor season.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Stratz's time of 2:07.32 was the 16
th fastest time in the East Preliminary and fifth in the 3
rdheat. The top 12 finishers from today qualify to advance to the NCAA Finals, June 5-8 in Austin, Texas.
-Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Stratz finished her Monmouth career with her second fastest time of her career, and graduates ranked 2
nd in school history in the event.
Wilson will join
Danielle Steff, who qualified to compete in Texas yesterday in the javelin. This will be the first time in school history that Monmouth has sent two women to the NCAA Championship Finals.
-       In the men's javelin, Orlando and Flacco threw 184'5" and 174'7", respectively. The duo finished 1
st and 3
rd at the MAAC Championships and 5
th and 6
th at the IC4A Championships to earn All-East honors.Â

-       Senior captain Corey Murphy will look to be the third Hawk to book their ticket to Austin, Texas for the 2019 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships tomorrow. Murphy, a Second Team All-American in indoor track this year, will compete in the shot put beginning at 2:45 PM.
