DALLAS, TX – The Monmouth University bowling earned its best-ever finish at the 2018 Southland Bowling League Championships this weekend at USA Bowl Dallas. The Hawks, in their fourth season as a member of the league, placed fourth after entering the tournament as the No. 8 seed.
The conference championship featured five teams ranked in the Top-10 of the latest NTCA Coaches Poll and all seven of Monmouth's competitors held Top-25 positions entering the weekend. The Hawks went 2-2 overall, with wins against No. 5 ranked Sam Houston State and No. 9 Tulane.
WEEKEND NOTES
"We fought hard every match this weekend. In the fourth round, Arkansas State just out-shot us. I am extremely proud of this team and the comeback they made after a difficult start to our season. They never gave up and their heart came through this weekend and proved we can go toe-to-toe with some of the top teams in the country."

- Monmouth's No. 8 seed was its lowest in four seasons entering the Southland Bowling League Championship, but the Hawks posted their highest finish in the event.

- Monmouth's highest pin total in baker format was 947 against No. 3 Arkansas State.
- Monmouth's largest margin of victory was 105 pins in the traditional match against No. 5 Sam Houston State (1006-901).

Julie Bianco led the Hawks with a 235 game in the traditional match against No. 5 Sam Houston State.
- Bianco threw two 200-plus games to reach the mark for the seventh time in 2017-18.

Jackie Evans rolled two 200-plus games, giving her 27 during the 2017-18 season.

Demi May rolled a 221 against No. 9 Tulane, to increase her season total to 10 200-plus games.
