BOWLING EARNS TWO TOP 10 WINS AT UMES HAWK CLASSIC

MILLSBORO, DE – The Monmouth University bowling team won two head-to-head matchups against teams ranked in the top-10 en route to a 6-6 overall record at the 2018 UMES Hawk Classic hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore this weekend at Millsboro Lanes. 
 
Monmouth placed 10th overall at the three-day event, which included four wins over ranked opponents, including #5 Sam Houston State, #10 Tulane, and two wins in back-to-back matches against #18 Duquesne. 
 
Senior Haley Solberg paced the Hawks individually with a sixth overall finish as she averaged 211.80 over five traditional games.

"This team has a lot of potential, but we have work to do over the break to improve our spare shooting. We've had a good start to our season and now it is time to prepare for the Spring semester."

- The #24 ranked Hawks defeated #5 Sam Houston State on Friday in baker format. 
 
- Monmouth also defeated #10 Tulane in the first match in traditional play. 
- The top-10 victories give the Hawks four top-10 wins for the 2018-19 season.  
Of the Hawks' 12 matches, ten were against ranked opponents, where they finished 3-7. 
 
NUMBERS CRUNCH 
- Monmouth's highest pin total in baker format was 958 against Youngstown State. 
- Monmouth's largest margin of victory was 160 pins in the Baker match win over Youngstown State (958-798).  
- Senior Haley Solberg led Monmouth with a 243-high game in traditional match play. She had three 200+ games this weekend and now has eight on the season. 
- Junior Kyla Day posted a career-high game of 227 in traditional match play. She has four 200+ games on the season. 
- Sophomore Camelia Coffman bowled a career-high 235 and had three 200+ games. She now has five games this year above 200. 
- Senior Maritza Darling-Ramos earned her first 200+ game of the season in traditional match play. 
- In 68 games this weekend, Monmouth averaged 188.9 pins per game, which ranked 11th overall.
