WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth junior Chandi Piiru was named MAAC Women's Track Performer of the Week while senior Corey Murphy was tabbed as the MAAC Men's Field Performer of the Week by league officials. Piiru and Murphy are both coming off strong performances at the Wagner Invite last Friday.

Piiru finished as the top collegian in the 800-meter run finishing in 2:11.87, which was .74 seconds before teammate Brianna Stratz. Her time was good enough to qualify for the ECAC Championships. Piiru also ran a leg in the 4x400 relay team that won the event in 3:55.49.

Murphy's shot put mark of 18.88 meters was his best toss of this season and helped him win the event at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Center. The mark is among the NCAA's best for the young season and qualified him for the IC4A Championships. This is his second time honored by the MAAC this indoor season.

Piiru, Murphy, and the Hawks will head to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania this Saturday to compete in the Angry Birds Invitational.
