MILLSBORO, DE –  The Monmouth University bowling team went 3-0 during Sunday's Championnship Bracket play to earn a ninth place finish at the 2017 UMES Hawk Classic this weekend at Millsboro Lanes.

Monmouth finished 5-8 during the three-day tournament and posted top-25 wins over No. 18 North Carolina A&T and No. 21 St. Francis Brooklyn.

For the fourth straight event senior Jackie Evans paced the Hawks individually, as she took sixth among individuals with an average of 211.00 over five traditional games.

WEEKEND NOTES
"We improved our scores again, but fell short of an ideal win-loss record. Several teams shot their high sets of the tournament against us. We closed out 3-0 on the last day to set the pace for next semester. We will be working hard over the break to improve or shot repeatability and spare shooting for next semester's competition."

- The No. 13 ranked Hawks defeated Howard and Coppin State for their two wins during Friday's Baker matches.
- Monmouth went 3-0 during Sunday's Bracket play, the first time the Hawks have gone unbeaten on Sunday this season.

 NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Monmouth's highest pin total in baker format was 918 against No. 7 Maryland Eastern Shore.
- Monmouth's largest margin of victory was 160 pins in the Baker match win over Howard (894-734). 
- Senior Jackie Evans led Monmouth with a 230 high game in traditional match play. She had four of her five games above 200 over the weekend.
- Evans has surpassed the 200-pin mark in 14 of 20 games this season.
- Junior Maritza Darling-Ramos threw a season high game of 202. It was her first game above 200 this year.
- Senior Julie Bianco threw a 202 to go above 200 for the fourth time in 2017-18.
- Senior Demi May also rolled her second 200-plus game of the season with a 214.
