WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ- Monmouth Senior Tim Wilson (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) and freshman Jordan Wildermuth (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson Township) have been named male and female field athlete of the week, respectively, league officials announced Tuesday.
Wilson earns his second weekly conference award after continuing his torrid start to the 2016-17 Indoor Track season on Friday at the Villanova Open, eclipsing the 20 meter mark in the weight throw for the second time this season (and in school history). The senior threw 65' 9” to take first for the fifth time in six meets this season. Wilson was part of a Monmouth team that went 1-3-4 while he helped the men finish third among 22 teams. Monmouth finished ahead of Syracuse, Manhattan, Lehigh and Army West Point among others.
Wildermuth wins her first weekly award after her efforts in the shot put and weight throw helped the Hawks claim second out of 22 teams at the Villanova Open. The New Jersey native took third in the shot put (45' 1”) and fourth in the WT with a toss of 52' 5 ½”. Wildermuth and the Hawks finished ahead of a number of the east's best programs including St. John's, Rutgers, Villanova and Lehigh among others.
The Hawks will compete next Saturday at Boston University's Scarlet & White Invitational and at the Villanova Invitational.
