STATEN ISLAND, NY- Monmouth University's track and field teams had a successful outing on Friday night at the NYC Gotham Cup held at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
For the second time in as many weeks a school record fell, as senior Jenna Cupp (Newark Valley, NY/Newark Valley) ran 2:47.47 in the 1000, also qualifying her for the ECACs. Monmouth's 4x800 relay team of Brianna Stratz (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South), Chandi Piiru (East Orange, NJ/Union Catholic), Cupp and Tionna Garner (Trenton, NJ/Trenton Cathloic) also turned in an ECAC qualifying time of 9:06.91 while winning the relay.
The Hawks went 1-2 in the 5k with Maggie Hanlon (Toms River, NJ/Toms River North) and Rachael Baker (Hanson, MA/Whitman Hanson Regional), turning in times of 17:52 and 18:15, respectively. Garner also took home silver in the 800m with a time of 2:10.63.
Monmouth men's team dominated the weight throw, going 1-2-3 with school record holder Tim Wilson (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) leading the way with his throw of 19.59. Troy Andretta (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) claimed second (17.52m) while Vincent Santarsiero (Haddonfield, NJ/Paul VI) was third (16.91m) in the event. Sophomore Andrew Tummino (River Edge, NJ/River Dell) threw 16.46m in the shot put to claim second but the first overall collegian. Brian Sosoo (Laurel, MD/Resevoir) claimed the top collegian spot in the 60m with a time of 6.83. Domenick D'Agostino's time of 2:30.86 placed the senior third in the men's 1000 while teammate Bryan Cabral (Linden, NJ/Linden) was fifth (2:32.98).

§ Mariah Hubbard and Faustina Owoh went 3-4 among collegians in the triple jump with marks of 11.58m and 11.44m, respectively
§ Domoah Katu-Akoi turned in a fourth place finish in the 60m (7.74)
§ Orleans also crossed sixth (fourth collegian) in the 60m hurdles (8.98)
§ Sosoo and Michael Pepper went 4-5 in the triple jump (14.11m, 14.09m)
