BETHLEHEM, PA- Monmouth University's track and field program enjoyed a successful afternoon at the Angry Birds Invitational hosted by Lehigh University, highlighted by a number of IC4A/ECAC qualifying times/marks and a new school record.
Monmouth's women claimed the victory over Penn, Lehigh and St. Joseph's with a 160 points while the men finished in second ahead of Lehigh and St. Joe's. The women have won the meet each of the last five seasons while the men had won in 2015 and 2016 and have finished first or second each of the five years.
Senior Tim Wilson (Washingtonville, NY/Washingtonville) set a new school record in the weight throw with a heave of 20.13m (66' ½"), breaking the old record of 19.96 set by Errol Jeffrey in 2014. Wilson, who has not finished lower than second in the event this season, won the event with teammate Troy Andretta (Kinnelon, NJ/Kinnelon) coming in second with a throw of 18.10.
Andrew Tomino (River Edge, NJ/River Dell) checked in with an IC4A qualifying mark of 15.92 in the shot put while freshman Jordan Wildermuth (Oak Ridge, NJ/Jefferson Township) earned an ECAC spot with a throw of 13.76 for a silver medal. Monmouth's Distance Medley Relay team of Tionna Garner (Trenton, NJ/Trenton Catholic), Amber and Brianna Stratz (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South) and Jenna Cupp (Newark Valley, NY/Newark Valley) won crossing the tape in 12:08 for an ECAC qualifying time. Bryan Sosoo (Laurel, MD/Reservior) won the triple jump with a mark of 14.16m

§ The Hawk men went 1-2-3 in the triple jump with Sosoo's mark of 14.16m (46' 5.5") tying him for first, sophomore Michael Pepper in second (14.10) and Darius Howe's mark of 13.74 claiming bronze
§ Hawks also went 1-2-3 on the women's side of the triple jump, led by unattached Mariah Toussaint's mark of 11.62m
§ Senior Jessica Ball was third in the mile (5:14.67) while Molly McKeon was second in the 3k with a time of 10.18.76
§ Naomi Miranda's time of 26.23 in the 200m had the freshman finishing in third place
§ Malcolm Chavis, the reigning MAAC Track Athlete of the Week, finished third in the 400m behind teammate Greg Stickle who was second (51.05)
