  The Monmouth University women's bowling team with a second-place finish at the UMES Hawk Classic.

The Hawks went 8-6 over the three-day event, including a 4-2 record in Traditional play on Saturday, before falling in the championship match to No. 6 Sam Houston State in Sunday's bracket by a 4-3 final.

"Though we fell short of winning the event we are very happy the way we wrapped up our first semester of tournaments. We still have a lot of work to do and many tournaments ahead of us, but it is a good start to our season."

- The No. 16 ranked Hawks defeated  the tournament host and No. 11 Maryland Eastern Shore in traditional format (979-952) and in Sunday's Championship bracket (4-3)
- The win over No. 2 Stephen F. Austin in Sunday's Championship bracket is the highest ranked opponent Monmouth has defeated this season
- Monmouth scored above 900 in four of its five Baker matches, with a high of 1,001 in a loss to the No. 6 Bearkats.


 NUMBERS CRUNCH
- Monmouth's highest pin total in traditional format was 1,082 in its decisive win over Coppin State.
- Monmouth's largest margin of victory was 330 in the win over the Hornets (1,082-752).
- Over 73 games this weekend, Monmouth averaged 194.2 pins per game, which ranked fourth overall
