BOWLING ELIMINATED FROM INAUGURAL SOUTHLAND BOWLING LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIPS

HOUSTON, Texas – The Monmouth University bowling team entered the inaugural Southland Bowling League Championships as the seventh seed, and knocked off second-seeded Stephen F. Austin in the first match of the weekend before dropping matches to Vanderbilt and Valparaiso in the double-elimination tournament.

MU opened the day with an upset, defeating Stephen F. Austin four games to one. Monmouth won the final three games, defeating the Jacks 194-185, 218-184 and 206-179. The Hawks advanced to play Vanderbilt, falling to the Commodores four games to two. The two games won by the Blue and White came by a total of 41, and the Hawks briefly led two games to one before Vanderbilt took the final three games. In the third match vs. Valparaiso, the Crusaders took all four games to eliminate MU from the first-ever Southland Bowling League Championship.

Monmouth concludes its first season in the Southland Bowling League with a record of 43-62.
