Monmouth Notes
Wilgus off to hot start
Senior center fielder Steve Wilgus is hitting .480 over the first two weekends of the year, 17th best in the country. He had six hits in a rain-shortened doubleheader last Sunday at Virginia.
McGee climbing charts
Senior left hander Andrew McGee will make his 58th career appearance this weekend, tying him for sixth all-time in appearances with Derek Hoeflich. Currently, McGee is in fourth all-time in complete games with 13, one behind Brad Brach for third. His 246.2 career innings pitched moved him into seventh all-time in the category, while his 172 strikeouts are sixth in MU history. One more win would give McGee 22, tying Ryan Buch for second all-time.
Freshmen Seeing Time
Through the first six games this year, three freshmen have started a game for Coach Ehehalt's squad (Shaine Hughes, Chris Gaetano, Grant Lamberton) and two more have seen their first action at MU (Jeff Singer, Tyler Saito).
