BOWLING CLOSES OUT WEEKEND AT CRUSADER CLASSIC

VALPARAISO, Ind. – Freshman Allison Carola (Mechanicville, N.Y./Mechanicville) led all Hawks with a pin average of 185 and totaled 1,295 pins to finish 23rd individually, but it was not enough as the Monmouth University bowling team placed 14th  of 14 this weekend at the Crusader Classic at Valparaiso University. The Hawks registered victories on the weekend over Elmhurst and Prairie View A&M.

MU posted a 2-14 record through the three days, with a high score of 950 during the final game of the weekend. The University of Nebraska-Lincoln won the tournament with a record of 13-3. Jessica Nannemann (Waterford, Wis./Waterford Union) placed 40th overall for MU.

MU opened up the weekend 1-6 on Friday, dropping the first six before defeating Prairie View A&M, 950-744. Kaitlyn Reth (Baltimore, Md./Overlea/Baltimore CC) posted Monmouth's high game of the day, a 238 to help pick up the win. Previously, the Hawks dropped close matchups with Vanderbilt and Arkansas State, while also falling short against Tulane, McKendree, UW-Whitewater and Alma.

Saturday's baker matches saw MU drop five before picking up a 933-841 win over Elmhurst. MU battled on Sunday as well, nearly beating Prairie View for a second time, falling by just 13 and losing to Elmhurst by 31. Reth totaled 1,095 on the weekend, while Nannemann averaged 1,140.

The Hawks return to the lanes next weekend for the UMES Hawk Classic.
