BLAMON EARNS JUNIOR ALL-AMERICAN HONORS IN JAVELIN

DES MOINES, IOWA - Monmouth University freshman Faith Blamon (Cinnaminson, N.J./Cinnaminson) earned Junior All-American honors with her sixth place finish in the javelin at the USA Junior National Championships at Drake University on Friday. Blamon is one of just three women in school history to earn Junior All-American status.

Blamon, who threw 146' 10" in the javelin, became Monmouth's first woman Junior All-American since Laura Williams (400 hurdles) in 2011, and joins Ashley Huffman (long jump) on that list for the Blue and White.

The top eight finishers in each event at the U.S. Junior National Championships earn Junior All-America honors.

"Faith did a great job this year and is still learning," noted head coach Joe Compagni. "She has a bright future with us."

On the men's side, freshman Geordan Ferguson (Lakehurst, N.J./Manchester Township) finished 15th in 400 hurdles, crossing the line in 55.46.

"Geordan got hurt helping us win the team title at the NEC Championships and worked hard the last month to get back to 100 percent," added Compagni. "He did not have the finish he hoped for, but got out great today and really went after it."

Freshman McLean Lipschutz (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) rounds out competition for the Hawks on Saturday in the javelin.
