PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Monmouth University senior
Lindsey Walsh claimed third place in the heptathlon at the Penn Relays on Wednesday afternoon. The team captain, who stood in second place after day one, finished with a total score of 4,606 points, which is the ninth-best performance in school history in the event.
On day two, Walsh posted a 5.28 meter long jump mark, a 23.77 meter javelin throw and a time of 2:29 in the 800.
Walsh's score of 4,606 ranks among the top performances in the East this year, and the top 15 performers in the East earn an invitation to the ECAC Division I Championships, which will be held May 13-14 at Princeton University. Walsh, who has qualified the last four years, has earned five All-East honors in both indoor and outdoor track and field.
The Penn Relays continue tomorrow, with Monmouth's women in action in three relays and five individual events.
