BOWLING FALLS SHORT OF VICTORY AT UMES HAWK CLASSIC

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Monmouth bowling team headed to Millsboro, Del. this weekend to compete in the University of Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawk Classic. Unfortunately, the Hawks could not attain a victory on the road.

The Hawks took 14th place out of 18 schools competing. The Hawks held 13th and 14th and 14th place all weekend and couldn't overcome the deep bracket deficit.

While the Hawks did finish with a 3-2 NCAA record this tournament, they were outscored in total pins as they were pitted against Howard University, host UMES, Norfolk State University, Valparaiso University and Morgan State University.

Senior Rikki DelDonno (Fairless Hills, Pa./Pennsbury [FDU]) led Monmouth with 971 total pins throughout the baker and traditional play format. Behind her was freshman Jennifer Fitzgibbons (Old Hickory, Tenn./Mount Juliet) with a total of 965 pins, then junior Kaylinn Grannis (Elmira, N.Y./Horseheads [Corning C.C.]) with 896 pins.

There was a total of 4,502 pins knocked down, but it wasn't enough to overtake the other scoools. The Hawks will turn their attention to their next road trip, the Sam Houston State Track KAT-CLASH at Huntsville Lanes held at Huntsville, Texas on the weekend of November 30 through December 2.
