SEVEN MONMOUTH ATHLETES EARN ALL-EAST HONORS AT ECAC/IC4A CHAMPIONSHIPS

BOSTON- Highlighted by three IC4A All-East shot put throwers, Monmouth claimed eight spots on All-East Teams at the 2009 IC4A and ECAC Division I Indoor Championships on Sunday.

Monmouth's Larry Lundy (Friendsville, Pa./Montrose Area), Tom Ciccoli (King of Prussia, Pa./Archbishop Carroll) and Vin Elardo (Forked River, N.J./Lacey) all earned top-eight finishes in the shot put. Lundy was third with his throw of 56' 10”, while Ciccoli was sixth (55' 5”) and Elardo came in seventh with his mark of 54' 2 ?”. The Hawks were the only team with three throwers in the finals of the event.

On the women's side, Michele Losey (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway) was named All-East in the 400m, where she finished in sixth place with her time of 55:85, a new school record. Losey also earned All-East honors as part of Monmouth's seventh place 4x400 relay team. Losey was joined by freshman Ajda Dotday (Hawthorne, N.J./Hawthorne), junior Crystal Stein (Stewartstown, Pa./Susquehannock) and Illiana Blackshear (West Orange, N.J./West Orange) in the relay, which crossed the tape in 3:48.67, the third best time in school history. Brittany Gibbs (Matawan, N.J./Old Bridge) jumped 37' 5 ?” in her first appearance at the ECACs in the triple jump.

The men's team finished tied for 22^nd place with 11 points, the third best finish in school history. More than 100 teams competed on the day. The women's squad finished 35^th out of 86 teams competing.
