WOMEN'S SOCCER EARNS 2-0 VICTORY AT ROBERT MORRIS

MOON TOWNSHIP, PA. - Behind goals from junior Ali Kliment and senior Andrea Lopez, the Monmouth University women's soccer team posted a 2-0 road victory over Robert Morris in Northeast Conference action, on Friday afternoon. Monmouth, which has registered six straight shutouts, and 10 blankings in its last 11 matches, improves to 9-3-1 overall, and remains unbeaten in the league at 4-0-1.

"We played very well in the first half and deserved more than just one goal," commented head coach Krissy Turner. "Defensively we continue to be very good." In the latest NCAA statistics, the Hawks were tied for third in the nation in shutout percentage, and ranked 15th in nation for goals against average - adding to both categories on Friday afternoon.

The Hawks, who scored a goal in each half, went ahead 1-0 in the 15th minute when Kliment was successful on a penalty kick following a foul in the box. Kliment's goal, at 14:58, was the defensive captain's second of the season, and first career game-winner.

Lopez, who added her fourth goal of the season, tying her for the team lead, pushed the Monmouth edge to 2-0 at 78:49, as the senior beat goalkeeper Jessica Olin to a loose ball and tallied the score. Lopez, the active career leader in goals for the Hawks, increased her career goal total to 28 with the score.

Monmouth outshot the Colonials 23-5 in the match, forcing Olin to make eight saves for RMU, which falls to 7-6-1 overall and 3-2-1 in the NEC.

Lia Fierro, who recorded her 10th shutout of the season, inflating her career total to 25, made two saves for the Hawks.

Monmouth, which is now 5-1 on the road this season, has not allowed a goal since its double overtime loss to Lehigh on September 20th.

"We look forward to playing another important conference game on Sunday (at Saint Francis)," added Turner.

Monmouth returns to action on Sunday, October 18th, when the Hawks travel to Loretto, Pa., for an NEC match at Saint Francis at 2:00 p.m.
