SKOWRONSKI TAKES HOME ALL-REGION HONORS IN HAMMER

TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- Monmouth ?s Ed Skowronski (Hazlet, N.J./Raritan) became the second Hawk this weekend to take home All-East Region honors on the final day of the 2008 NCAA East Regional Championships held on the campus of Florida State.

Skowronski took home All-Region honors for the second straight year in the hammer, finishing  sixth with a throw of 203' 3”.  The senior just missed the autoqualifying mark of fifth place for the NCAA Championships.  Skowronski will now go into the at-large pool, where he could be selected to compete for a national title at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa.

Monmouth's women's 4x400 relay team of Illiana Blackshear (West Orange, N.J./West Orange), Michele Losey (Piscataway, N.J./Piscataway), Brittany Gibbs (Matawan, N.J./Old Bridge) and Crystal Stein (Stewartstown, Pa./Susquehannock) ran a time of 3:46.45 for 18th place.

Yesterday senior Christian Keller (Matawan, N.J./Matawan) earned All-East Region honors in the shot put with his seventh place effort.  Today, Keller placed 13th in the discus with a mark of 167' 3”. Sophomore Bryan Fill (Hasbrouck Heights, N.J./Hasbrouck Heights) took 13th in the Javelin.

The men's team finished 41st of 110 schools, which is the third best finish in school history.
