The Hawks (15-10-1) tallied the first run of the game, going ahead 1-0 in the top of the first, as Kyle Higgins (Green Brook, N.J./Watchung Hills) led off with a single and advanced to third base on a failed pickoff attempt. The junior crossed the plate on Andy Meyers' (Stratford, N.J./Sterling) sacrifice fly, before the Hawks ended the frame with bases loaded.

Justin Braun (Stony Brook, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) registered an RBI single and Higgins then lifted a sacrifice fly in the frame, for the three-run advantage.
The Hawks went up 7-2 in the sixth, when Meyers led off with a double, stole third and crossed the plate on a Messineo fielder's choice groundout. Messineo, after another stolen base, later scored on a wild pitch.
