RICHMOND, Va. – Monmouth University baseball players
Ryan Mealy and
Chris Walsh were honored as the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) announced its preseason awards voted on by the league's head coaches.

Mealy was named Preseason All-CAA while Walsh took home Preseason All-CAA Honorable Mention accolades.Â

Mealy had a stellar freshman campaign for the Hawks. He went 5-2 with a 3.56 ERA in 68.1 innings of work. He ranks among the top in the CAA for ERA and in CAA only games for ERA, innings pitched and wins.Â

Mealy moved into the starting rotation for CAA play and threw a complete game shutout in the Hawks' Sunday win at North Carolina A&T. He struck out a season-high 10 batters in that win and was named the CAA Rookie of the Week afterwards. Mealy was part of another shutout for the Hawks as he tossed six shutout innings in the win over Elon.Â

Walsh started 46 games during his sophomore season and saw time primarily at first base but also served as the DH and in the outfield. He hit .306 with 42 runs scored and 23 RBIs.Â

Walsh finished third on the team with 17 multi-hit games and tied for fourth with six multi-RBI games. He hit his first career home run in the road win over FDU. Walsh was 20-for-25 in stolen base attempts, second on the team.

Mealy, Walsh and the rest of the Hawks kick off the 2026 season when they travel to Richmond for a three-game set starting on Friday, Feb. 13.
