STONY BROOK, N.Y. –
Simmi Whitehill extended his reached base safely streak to 37 straight games as the Monmouth University baseball team fell in both games of the doubleheader at Stony Brook University in Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) action.

The Seawolves took the opener 3-1 and used some late runs to secure the 5-2 win in game two.

Game One Recap:
Stony Brook used a sac fly in the bottom of the first and took an early lead in the contest.Â

A double steal in the third pushed the Stony Brook advantage to 2-0.Â

A two-out run in the fifth pushed the Seawolves lead to 3-0.
Â
Whitehill's RBI single in the ninth got Monmouth on the board but Stony Brook got a double play to end the contest.

Wyatt Hunt for the 1-0 advantage. Whitehill had walked in the inning to extend his reached base streak.

Stony Brook responded with two runs in the bottom of the frame to retake the lead, 2-1.

The Hawks evened things up in the fourth as Lovarco launched a loud home run to left that tied things up.

It remained a 2-2 game until the bottom of the seventh as the Seawolves took advantage of a two-out single and scored the go ahead run.

Stony Brook added to its lead in the eighth and took a 5-2 advantage into the ninth.

The Hawks got a one-out base runner in the top of the ninth but could not bring him around the Seawolves claimed victory.

Notes
- Nick Lovarco hit his team-leading seventh home run of the year in game two for the Hawks. It's the most home runs since Jay Bant hit seven last year.
- Simmi Whitehill reached base safely in both games of the doubleheader and has now reached base safely in 37 straight games.
- Whitehill singled in both games and extended his hit streak to nine straight games.
- Despite falling in a CAA series for just the second time this year, the Hawks are 15-6Â Â in conference play this season.
- Whitehill had three hits in game one and matched his season-high.Â
- Chris Walsh stole a base in the first game and now has back-to-back seasons of 20 or more steals.
- Brendan Buecker had a sac bunt in game two and is tied for the team lead with eight sacs this season.Â
- Alec Couture took the loss in game one after giving up three runs on six hits in seven innings. He finished with four strikeouts.
- Cory Pascarella tossed a season-high 5.1 innings and gave up just two runs while striking out two.
- Brendan Kenneally took the game two loss after giving up one run in 1.1 innings of relief work.
