RICHMOND, Va. – After breaking three school records in November, Monmouth University freshman swimmer
Izan Arroyo Lopez del Castillo was named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Rookie Swimmer of the Month for November/December.

Arroyo Lopez del Castillo was honored by the CAA for the second straight month after being named the CAA Co-Rookie Swimmer of the Month for October.

Arroyo Lopez del Castillo had a productive November as he logged seven first place finishes, three school records, several of the top times in the CAA and led Monmouth to a win in each of its dual meets.

Arroyo Lopez del Castillo set the school record twice in the 200 IM at the Patriot Invitational. He swam a 1:49.90 in the prelims to break Callan Smith's mark set in 2022. He then broke his own mark by touching the wall in 1:49.06 in the finale. He also broke the school record in the 1650 Free at the Patriot Invitational with a time of 15:21.83.

In the win over Iona, Arroyo Lopez del Castillo won the 200 Free with a time of 1:41.14. He captured the 500 Free with a time of 4:39.50. He also won the 200 IM with a time of 1:55.45. Arroyo Lopez del Castillo closed out the meet by swimming the final leg of the 400 Free relay that won with a time of 3:08.07.

In the win over Manhattan, Arroyo Lopez del Castillo won the 1000 Free with a time of 9:25.56. He won the 100 Free with a time of 47.27. He was part of the 200 Free relay team that posted a time of 1:25.81 (Monmouth was swimming exhibition by that point having won the meet).

His time in the 200 Free at the Patriot Invitational is seventh fastest in the CAA this season. His time in the 1000 Free at the Patriot Invitational is the third fastest in the CAA this season. His time in the 1650 Free is the second fastest in the CAA this season. His time in the 200 IM is the eighth fastest in the CAA this season.

Arroyo Lopez del Castillo and the Hawks will return to action on January 9 when they travel to Stony Brook to take on Felician.
