RICHMOND, Va. – After breaking two more school records, Monmouth University swimming freshman
Izan Arroyo Lopez del Castillo was named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Rookie Swimmer of the Month for January/February.

Arroyo Lopez del Castillo shared the honors with Roko Krpina of Drexel. Arroyo Lopez del Castillo took home rookie of the month honors for the third time this season.Â

Arroyo Lopez del Castillo set a pair of school records, swam three Top 10 times in the CAA and had five individual wins across three meets.

He broke the school record in the 1000 Free against La Salle with a time of 9:15.80. He also broke the school record in the 400 IM with a time of 3:57.56. That was a mark that had stood since 2018.

His time in the 500 free against Drexel (4:30.48) is the seventh fastest in the CAA this season. His time of 9:15.80 in the 1000 Free against La Salle is the third fastest in the CAA this season. His time in the 400 IM against La Salle (3:57.56) is the sixth fastest in the CAA.

He won the 200 Free, the 500 Free and 200 IM in the quad meet at St. Peter's. He also helped the 200 medley relay team place second in that meet.Â

Arroyo Lopez del Castillo won the 1000 Free and 400 IM against La Salle. He place second in the 100 Free and helped the 200 medley relay team take second.

He took second in the 200 Free and 500 Free at Drexel while also helping the 400 free relay place second. He was part of the 400 medley relay team that took third.

Arroyo Lopez del Castillo did not finish any lower than third place in any of the three meets across January and February.

Arroyo Lopez del Castillo and the Hawks are back in action when they begin the CAA Championship on Wednesday, Feb. 25.
