FINAL RESULTS
NEWARK, NJ — Monmouth men's swimming opened up its 2026-27 season Friday and Saturday at the NJIT hosted Highland Invitational, competing against the hosting Highlanders, University of Bridgeport, Villanova and St. Peter's University.
The Hawks finished fourth with 646 total points behind Bridgeport (1,067), NJIT (1,042) and Villanova (843), respectively. St. Peter's fell fifth with 188 points.
On Day 1, Monmouth placed two on top of the podium with freshman
Kvido Machan and sophomore
Izan Arroyo Lopez del Castillo highlighting the evening with winning times in the 50 and 500-yard freestyle, respectively.
Machan opened his first career collegiate race with a winning time of 20.73 seconds in the 50-freestyle, comfortably touching ahead of second place finisher Aleksan Rustad (21.22) of the University of Bridgeport. Arroyo Lopez del Castillo then claimed his first of two first-place finishes of the meet after clocking in with a time of 4 minutes, 27.44 seconds in the 500-yard freestyle, well ahead of second place in the Purple Knights' Sultanbek Azat (4:34.03).
Arroyo Lopez del Castillo then secured another first-place performance while setting a new pool record at Joel & Diane Bloom Wellness and Events Center, as he touched first with a time of 15:26.89 in the 1,650-freestyle. Hawks junior
Victor Pottier Ibanez was the final gold-medal winner for Monmouth, as he clocked in with a winning time of 55.86 in the 100-yard breaststroke. The next fastest time in the event was Villanova's Hugh Boris (56.45) with Bridgeport's Sebastian Hagen placing third (57.18).
