RICHMOND, Va. – After breaking multiple school records during his rookie campaign, Monmouth University freshman
Izan Arroyo Lopez del Castillo was named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Men's Swimming Rookie of the Year.

Arroyo Lopez del Castillo is the first Hawk to be honored since Monmouth joined the CAA. He also earned All-CAA accolades for finishing third in the 1650 Free at the CAA Championship.

At the CAA Championships Arroyo Lopez del Castillo had three top seven finishes. His best finish came in the 1650 Free when he finished third. He also took sixth in the 400 IM and seventh in the 500 Free.Â

Arroyo Lopez del Castillo set the school record in the 200 IM, 1650 Free, 1000 Free, 400 IM, 500 Free, and 400 medley relay throughout the course of the year. At the CAA Championship, he set the 400 IM (twice), 400 medley relay and 500 free records.

Arroyo Lopez del Castillo was the three-time CAA Rookie Swimmer of the Month. He was also named the CAA Co-Swimmer of the Week.

His 200 free (1:38.35), 500 free (4:24.62), 1,000 Free (9:15.80), 16500 free (15:21.83), 400 IM (3:52.43) times all ranked among the top 10 in the CAA.
