RICHMOND, Va. – After posting three individual wins and two relay wins in his first two collegiate meets, Monmouth University swimming freshman
Izan Arroyo Lopez del Castillo has been named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Co-Rookie Swimmer of the Month for October.

Arroyo Lopez del Castillo shares the monthly honor with Hil Lindsay of UNCW.Â

He started his collegiate career with an individual first and a second-place finish at Seton Hall. In his first ever, he swam a 9:27.56 and finished second in the 1000 free. Arroyo Lopez del Castillo was just :00.04 seconds behind the winner.Â

He claimed victory in the 500 free with a time of 4:35.88. He finished nearly seven seconds in front of his competitor.Â

He also swam the third leg of the 200 free relay that won with a time of 1:27.67.

In the home opener against TCNJ, Arroyo Lopez del Castillo won the 200 IM with a time of 1:52.50. He also won the 200 free with a time of 1:40.04. Arroyo Lopez del Castillo swam the final leg of the 400 free relay team that won with a time of 3:05.30.

Arroyo Lopez del Castillo has the seventh fastest time in the CAA for the 200 free, the eighth fastest time in the CAA for the 500 free, the fourth fastest time in the CAA for the 1000 free and the seventh fastest time in the CAA for the 200 IM.

Arroyo Lopez del Castillo and the Hawks are back in action on Thursday, Nov. 6 when they host Manhattan at 6 p.m.
