West Long Branch, NJ - Monmouth bowling contested its first NCAA matches of the new semester, and the performance resulted in two Northeast Conference weekly awards.
On the heels of winning the one-day Wagner Invite, graduate Jenna Lehrer earned the NEC Player of the Week award while freshman Grace Kraemer nabbed the NEC Rookie of the Week honor.
Lehrer lit up the lanes on Staten Island, leading the Hawks to wins over Wagner, Molloy and LIU. The veteran right-hander averaged 22.94 pins per frame over five baker matches. Lehrer accounted for 9.44 pins per first ball while striking on 29 of 50 attempts (.580). Making all 15 single-pin spares, the Empire State product filled frames at a .940 clip.
Kraemer averaged 19.30 pins per frame while bowling 37 of a possible 50 frames at the Seahawk Invite. The rookie right-hander averaged 8.92 pins per first ball, registering a 9+ two-thirds of the time. She was a perfect 11-for-11 on single-pin spare shots en-route to an .811 filled frames percentage.
With Kraemer's selection, the Hawks have now held the NEC Rookie of the Week award three times this season. Freshman Kailyn Bloch won two during the fall semester.
Monmouth returns to action at the Griffin Baker Classic in Deptford, NJ on February 1.
