January 22, 2025

West Long Branch, NJMonmouth track & field senior David Strong set the program's Heptathlon record for the second time this season, and he won his second Coastal Athletic Association Men's Field Athlete of the Week award as a result.

Strong earned the CAA spotlight on the heels of his performance at Penn's Quaker Invitational in Philadelphia, where the veteran extended his conference lead in the Heptathlon by totaling 5,323 points. The score moved Strong up to No. 16 overall on the NCAA Division I performance list. In the process, he improved his CAA-best long jump mark by leaping 7.22m (23' 8.25") at Penn.

With Strong's January 21 victory, Monmouth has controlled the CAA Men's Field Athlete of the Week award for the first four weeks of the season. Strong won the first honor on December 10. Then, pole vaulter Dalton Yeust captured two in a row on December 17 and January 14.

The Hawks return to action on January 24 at Columbia University's Dr. Sander Invitational. Monmouth's next three competitions will take the Hawks to nearby New York City.
