RICHMOND, Va. – After scoring a pair of first half goals in a win on Sunday, Monmouth University women's soccer sophomore midfielder
Liza Suydam was named the Coastal Athletic Association (CAA) Offensive Player of the Week by league officials.
Suydam received weekly honors from the conference office for the second time in her career (rookie of the week – Sept. 25, 2023). Suydam becomes the fourth Monmouth player to receive weekly honors from the CAA this season (
Lauren Bruno – 8/20,
Loren Gehret and
Ashley Lavrich – 8/26).
Suydam played a big role in the Hawks picking up a 3-0 win over Bucknell on Sunday afternoon. Suydam scored her first goal of the season on a give-and-go 25 minutes into the match. She added to the Monmouth lead in the final minute before the half. Suydam lofted a shot from just about 30 yards out that slid just under the crossbar and in.
Suydam played a key role in the match as she won several balls in the air and kept the Hawks going on the offensive end.
Suydam also registered five shots in a 1-1 tie at Binghamton earlier in the week.
Suydam is the third Hawk to score two goals in a game this season (
Loren Gehret,
Summer Reimet). She has two goals on the season and nine for her career. Her game-winning goal against Bucknell was her first of the season and third of her career.
Suydam and the Hawks are back in action on Thursday, Sept. 5 when they travel to Lehigh for a 6 p.m. match.
