SARAH DWYER JOINS FIELD HOCKEY COACHING STAFF

August 17, 2023

WEST LONG BRANCH, NJ – Monmouth University Field Hockey Head Coach Carli Figlio has added Sarah Dwyer as an Assistant Coach for the upcoming 2023 season, announced Thursday.

"I am both excited and grateful to join the Monmouth Field Hockey staff," Dwyer said. "Carli and David are great leaders, and I hope I can learn a lot from. The team has a lot of potential, and I'm looking forward to what we can do this season."

Dwyer, a Class of 2016 graduate from Shore Regional High School, returns to her hometown after being the starting goalkeeper for Boston College from 2016-2019 and a stint as an Assistant Coach for Lehigh University shortly after.

As a senior and team captain for the Eagles in 2019, Dwyer was named a NFHCA First Team All-American after recording a 76.0% save percentage, pitching nine shutouts, and leading BC to its first Final Four appearance in program history. During the Eagles postseason run, Dwyer made four saves in a 2-1 win over No. 11 Northwestern and followed it up with a seven-save outing for a 2-1 win over No. 4 Louisville in double overtime. For her career, she boasts a 29-16 overall record, 15 shutouts, and a 1.39 goals allowed average, which ranks first in program history. Dwyer also sits at sixth all-time at BC in career shutouts, seventh in career wins, and 10th in career saves.

The West Long Branch native was also a three-time division and sectional champion, two-time New Jersey Group 1 state champion, two-time All-Shore and All-State Teams member. Dwyer spent time as a player and coach for the nearby field hockey club team, Jersey Intensity, as well as being a member of the U17 U.S. National Team.

In addition, 2022 NFHCA Third Team All-American Annick van Lange has been added to the staff as a Student Coach, while she looks to complete a master's degree this fall.
