WOODBRIDGE, Va. – The Monmouth University Women's Bowling Team collected four wins over nationally ranked opponents and placed 19
th at the 2023 Hawk Classic this weekend hosted by the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

The Hawks knocked down 13,440 total pins across 68 games – averaging 996.8 pins in five Baker matches and 991.7 pins in six Traditional matches.

Monmouth began the weekend with a 1,071-1,003 win over No. 21 Lincoln Memorial on Friday, marking the first time the Hawks have beaten the Railsplitters since the ITC Nationals in May, 2021.
On Saturday in Traditional format, Monmouth collected three consecutive wins, with two of them coming against ranked schools. The Hawks defeated No. 19 Central Missouri, 963-960, before knocking off No. 8 Sam Houston, 1,109-1,044, for the second time is as many tries dating back to last season. The Blue and White followed up the two ranked wins with a 165-pin victory over Adelphi (991-826) before falling to No. 6 Youngstown State to end the day.

The Hawks capped off the weekend with a seven-game win over No. 21 Lincoln Memorial in Championship play followed by a six-game loss to Wilmington (Del.) to finish the weekend in 19
th place.
